Padma Bridge

A 6.15-kilometre road-rail crossing of the Padma, built with domestic financing and record-depth foundations.

Opened in June 2022, the Padma Multipurpose Bridge connects the south-west of the country to Dhaka. Its piles reach up to 122 metres below the riverbed — the deepest recorded for any bridge — because the Padma's bed shifts and scours season by season.
